Superman
by: CMK
I love being Superman
I don’t blow air like a fan
But I get brought back down to earth
Struck down
Into the dirt
Kissing the universe
I know I’m human
But I tend to ignore sin
I say you can’t hurt me
I’m tough and rough
Heck I could kick down a tree
Isn’t that enough for you to see
Its what they said
You can’t be hurt or murdered
So relax your head
And go off to bed
I thought I was Superman
I thought I had the plan
But I came back around
And now I’m on the ground
Laying there disabled and hurt
Making a crazy sound
My brain begins to pound
But alas they say
In a serious way
You’re strong you could overcome anything
Little do they know, about the show
You’re perfect they say, you just can’t sing
They said you ought to be king
But the farther I get hurt
I just try to make things work
I thought I was Superman
But I can’t even stand
I’m on the ground and cry out
I can’t keep going this same route
I call for you, anyone
But they say tough it out
But I never won
I’m just someone’s son
You call me Superman
But I know if I can
I admit I’m not perfect
I fall and suffer
My heart and mind receive nicks
I just burn down like a candle wick
You came back and helped me out
Even when I began to pout
You helped me grow
Into what I wanted to be
Now I need no show
So I don’t feel so low
Just remember this between you and me
All I wanted to be
Is a man
And I don’t mean, Superman
